We’re delighted to have Clare Farrell, a part-time traveler who has a penchant for European city breaks, back to share her love for Verona.
6 Favorite Photos of Verona
I honestly believe that Verona is where I found and fell for real Italy. I don’t think this lovely city gets as much attention as it deserves, but for me that meant that an October trip once the summer season had subsided, was beautifully relaxed.
I loved everything about this city – there was something to see at every turn and it wasn’t hard to find glimpses of real Italian life. I’d go back in a heartbeat. With or without my Romeo!
1. This is just one example of Verona’s beautiful views that can be found anywhere and everywhere on the city’s Adige river.
2. Everything I love about the city’s colour. Even in Autumn, it still feels like summer thanks to the bright, warm tones of its buildings.
3. The Verona classic – Juliet’s balcony. A must-see, this is one place you’ll be likely to find crowds. But you shouldn’t miss it – it’s lovely as I’m sure you can see!
4. And now for another Verona essential – the Roman Arena. This can’t fail to impress you and makes a stunning city centrepiece in Piazza Bra. I can only imagine what it must be like to experience a performance of Verona’s famous opera in such an amazing venue.
5. Next up, one of Verona’s secret sights. Shrines to the Virgin Mary are all over Verona and they are beautiful. This one was a wonderful work of art on a random street. It captures exactly what I love about Italy!
6. And finally, let me take you back to the river and to the ancient Ponte Pietra bridge. This was right near the B&B I called home during my trip and yet again shows just how photogenic this historic city is. Verona, I love you!
Thanks Clare for sharing you experience in Verona with us. I, too, fell in love with Verona and hope to be back again soon. And this time, I plan to stay for at least a couple of day!
