A few weeks ago we had the chance to visit Venice again after a long absence and this time around, I finally made it to the island of Burano. I’ve read so much about Burano and its incredible colors that it was on my must-visit list. The day we got to Venice, we made our way to Burano and it was love at first sight.
6 Favorites Photos of Burano
1. This is the quintessential photo of Burano I’ve seen before my trip and I was eager to see the riot of colors with my own eyes. Even having seen many photos, it was still jaw-dropping amazing. It felt like I had just put on multi-colored glasses and not even the gray skies could dampen the charm of this place.
2. On the day we visited, the town was eerily quiet but still stunning. It could have been the rainy weather that kept visitors away and residents indoors. However, laundry is always a clear sign of life here.
3. Browsing the town before dinner, we finally spotted a resident who stepped out to catch a breathe of fresh air after the rain subsided.
4. There’s no shortage of vivid colors in this town. Love this house painted in pink.
5. Dinner was at Trattoria al Gatto Nero thanks to the recommendation from Elizabeth Minchilli. I am not sure if there is another restaurant in town but this was the only one opened when we visited. I had an appetizer, followed by the risotto, and ended with tiramisu, all of which were fabulous. And a bonus, the staff were very friendly.
6. We were fortunate that the rain didn’t last long and the skies eventually cleared to treat us to a mesmerizing sunset.
If you have never been to Burano, I hope the next time you’re in Venice, you’ll take the 45-minute boat ride here. It’s worth it and unforgettable!
