‘Tis the season! The Christmas holidays are in full swing and everyday leading up to Christmas, we will shares festive photos from some cities around Italy. We’ll get into the spirit of Christmas, if you already haven’t, with some festive cheer from Florence.
Georgette Jupe, a true ‘Tuscan Texan’ who has been living in Florence since 2007 shares 6 of her festive photos from this Renaissance city.
6 Festive Photos from Florence
1. La Rinascente department store in Florence – Luxury department store La Rinascente in Piazza della Repubblica all lit up for Christmas. Complete with the horse & carriage it makes for quite the holiday backdrop.
2. Duomo from the terrace of a nearby building – I was able to snap this amazing view of Florence’s Duomo from the terrace of a nearby friend’s apartment. It’s full beauty packs quite the punch!
3. Horse & Carriage in Piazza Signoria – My favorite Piazza in Florence is often bustling with tourists, but on this cold winter day there was only this picturesque scene.
4. Christmas trees in Piazza della Passera – I live next to this beautiful piazza in the Oltrarno area of Florence, here you have the makings of an entire evening out, an aperitivo bar, restaurant(s) and geleteria.
5. Santas – A group of wayward jolly Santas spotted singing down fancy Florentine street, via Tornabuoni on a Sunday evening.
6. Christmas lights on one tiny street – I thought this beautiful tiny alleyway decorated with Christmas lights near Florence’s via del Corso was absolutely stunning.
