“Abruzzo, a land to discover!”….If this sounds to you like an invitation, then you’re absolutely right! From culture to nature to fabulous food, here are reasons to visit Abruzzo.
7 reasons to visit Abruzzo
1. If you prefer destinations that aren’t on the tourist trail, then you’ll love Abruzzo. It maybe lesser-known but rest assured that the region is still as fascinating and exciting!
2. Abruzzo is easier to reach than you thought: only 3 hrs away from Rome, uncountable coaches from Rome and Naples to the main towns of the region and an airport, in Pescara, with daily flights to Milan, London, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Oslo and many other destinations.
3. Abruzzo mix and match: no matter what you are interested in, you will have the best time of you life by visiting the region! Three National Parks, skiing resorts, natural sites of all kinds, 130 km of beaches (sand, rocks and pebbles..). No matter what type of traveler you are (active or looking for a relaxing and a peaceful time) Abruzzo will pamper you!
4. If you don’t know what trabocchi, presentosa, transumanza and sciabica are..I want to tickle your curiosity..but i will tell you one thing: all of these words are linked to traditions and regional culture, life style, and ancient customs which you will see, feel and experience simply by “feeling” Abruzzese – even only for a weekend!
5. Abruzzo is culture, history, art towns, medieval churches, castles and museums…a trip through its history to understand its customs and its present!
6. Foodies are more than welcome in Abruzzo: there is no better way to travel than tasting and discovering local food and traditional recipes. Make the most of your visit by taking part in cooking or harvesting experiences. An experience you can then take back home and regardless of where you are, you’ll always be able to enjoy the taste of Abruzzo!
7. Last but not least: Abruzzo loves families! There is no better environment for you and your kids than the slopes, valleys, rural areas and coastal destinations: with a special add on (activities, sports and experiences) designed just for young travellers. It’s a wonderful place to live all year round!

Abruzzo is one of the few corners of Italy that are still unspoilt by mass tourism. And is certainly the best for nature lovers: bear and wolf watching tours, while hiking you will see chamois, roe deer.
Hi Anna, totally agree with you. We love Abruzzo and have hiked as well as skied there. It’s heaven for nature-lovers!
